In October 2019, I started my graduate school journey for an MBA concentration in International business at Louisiana State University Shreveport. I’ve missed school so much and glad I decided to embark on this journey. Here’s how my semester went …
Since my program is strictly an online accelerated program, I am expected to graduate December 2020. The course load is still a full semester curriculum, just completed in half the time. This semester, I had 7 exams, which were proctored (aka video monitored) by a third-party company. In order to access my test, I had to verify my identity as well as my surroundings to a person online proctoring my exam. I also had 3 forum posts regarding my 2-part project worth 40% of my grade.
My program has a strict plagiarism policy and implemented a program that analyzes paper submissions and gives it a score based on other papers submitted, published work, articles, etc. Papers scored above 15% were not accepted.
My 2-part project was about creating a product using solar fabric, create a company start up, and strategic marketing plans. In total, I wrote approximately 30 pages in 6 weeks.
Not to mention my on-going battle with aggressive chronic hives. I spent months going to different doctors with no luck. I visited a family physician, allergist, and acupuncturist. Both the family physician and allergist recommended I take Zyrtec until the hives disappear, which could potentially mean being on medication for the rest of my life. At one point, I was taking over 20 pills of medication daily. The allergist brought up the possibility of an auto-immune disease. Visiting the acupuncturist helped temporarily, but my hives came back a week later. I’m currently still taking Zyrtec to mediate the hives, but all the doctors informed me there is no cure.
Although so much has happened, I am so glad to be alive and I look forward to the upcoming semesters in 2020.
